Building clever kids is the big marketing hook behind Parmalat’s new Smart Growth products, a line of DHA- enriched beverages and food.

“For kids in that critical period of growth, in utero to 12 years of age, a tremendous amount of brain development is going on,” says Gina Sunderland, a Canadian registered dietitian. “Infants accumulate DHA in their brains during the last trimester of pregnancy and during infancy from breast milk. Research shows children consuming more of this fatty acid have better vision and higher IQ scores.”
