On Wednesday British Gas raised gas bills by 35% with immediate effect. What impact will this have on you as an individual, family or business? What about the pensioners who have no savings and can only just about survive now? The Government do give pensioners a £200 winter allowance, however due to this increase in gas how long will the £200 last them? Not long!

Thousands of people in the UK are already feeling the pinch due most of the major companies increasing their utility bills. More and more people are living off credit cards in order to buy their basic provisions even though they are working full time.

Clothes here in the UK can now be bought for only a few pounds if you look around – however, someone, somewhere will be paid pittance for making them and no doubt will be working in terrible conditions.

Is this gas increase just the start or are more companies now going to follow suit and increase their bills even more just to see how much money they can actually make?

Let us know your thoughts.

With so much happening around the globe at the present time, it is no wonder we are watching our pennies very closely these days. Do we invest and trust the banks with what little money we have? or do we keep it close to our chest?

In the UK fuel prices have reached an all time high. Commuters are feeling the pinch now if they drive to work. Fuel prices have a knock on effect, for example food deliveries will be more expensive, therefore the price of basic provisions like bread and milk are again rising in price. Household bills, electric and gas are predicted to go up 40%. It seems that it’s a constant battle at the moment for the general public to keep their heads above water. More and more people are losing their homes as they can no longer afford to run them.

Who do you think is to blame for all this? How is it affecting you? Let us know your thoughts, whether negative or positive.

Here in the UK we’ve had several days of constant sunshine (it’s hard to believe I know – but we have honestly). Over these particular hot and sunny days the supermarkets have been packed out with people buying their salad and BBQ ingredients such as bags upon bags of tomatoes, lettuces and cucumbers, but how much will they actually eat and how much will they throw away should the sun go in?

I couldn’t believe my eyes when people were snatching at the lettuces as if there was no tomorrow, but I can guarantee that half of those people have just gone along with the mad rush for them and will now leaving them to rot in their fridge as they probably thought it’s a nice sunny day and I shall start my diet today.

There are so many interesting salads you can now make at home. What about Italian tomato, basil and mozzarella salad? or perhaps a European chicken salad? Just by adding a couple more ingredients such as fresh basil or a tasty dressing, your boring salad can be transformed into a great dinner which is certainly cheaper and tastier than buying a ready made salad.

If you are stuck with lots of salad ingredients or any other foods in your fridge and cupboards such as chicken, fish, pasta or beans and don’t know what to do with it, then take a look at this quick free recipe site called: Quick Free Recipes.

There will never be any need to throw food away again because I am sure you will find a quick simple recipe to make and enjoy.

So have a good browse on the site and let us know what you think of it. You can even submit your own quick free recipe to share with others around the globe.

Aid agencies are appealing for help and say the need is “immediate and vast”.

While there have been questions over whether the Burmese government will give the agencies the access they need, most say they have partners on the ground and they are confident aid will get through.

So how can you help?

WHAT CAN YOU DO?

One of the major channels of aid is the UK-based Disasters Emergency Commitee – an umbrella organisation of 13 major aid agencies.

We waste an incredible 6.7 million tonnes of food every year.

But the government’s Waste and Resources Action Programme says almost two-thirds of the food thrown away could have been eaten if we managed our lives better.

Only 19 per cent of our rubbish is made up of unavoidable waste such as vegetable peelings, meat carcasses and teabags.

The rest comes from leftovers we scrape off our plates after meals, and shockingly, completely untouched products that have been allowed to go off.

No doubt you will of heard all the commotion about Paul McCartney and Heather Mills divorce recently. But are you really interested? Honestly?

There are more important things going on around the globe than listening about their divorce on the news. So why do the press and TV companies continue to waste time and money running round after this couple and others like them?

Do you get sick and tired about hearing about ‘famous’ celebrities on the news or in the papers? It’s not just their wealth or being famous that annoys people, it’s their audacity to say that they have been badly treated in cases such as divorce or separation procedures, especially if they didn’t quite get their share of the £100m fortune…

Some people do not have clean drinking water, a family, or somewhere warm to sleep at night. So let us try focusing on these people, rather than spending more time and money on the ones who don’t need our help – well except to boost their celebrity status even more.

Let us know your thoughts.

Each year millions and millions of us save up hundreds of pounds to splash out on those ‘much needed’ Christmas presents for our nearest and dearest. It is only natural you want to see their face(s) light up on Christmas day. But have you ever thought about those who are desperate for our help?

If you really want to help someone this Christmas then why don’t you just spend a little less on a couple of presents and then donate the money you have saved to a charity of your choice?

One charity which always springs to mind is Oxfam.

Oxfam has a dedicated team of people working for them and they help so many countries which are desperate for your help. You can buy online gifts as well as sending them money to help buy things such as fertiliser, tools for farming, goats etc.

So when you get back from your Christmas shopping trip, spare a thought for those who have never received a gift in their life and send them something to help them survive.
