If you have a trip to San Francisco planned, you’re in for a treat. San Francisco is a large and amazing city that is filled with fun activities, entertainment and incredible restaurants. If you want to make sure you experience the absolute best parts of San Francisco, here is a little cheat sheet as to what you should do:
Take a Harbor Cruise
Since San Francisco is such a massive city, one of the best ways to explore it is by taking one of its harbor cruises. One such company that offers a lucrative harbor cruise deal is the Red and White Fleet San Francisco Cruises Company. On this harbor cruise, you will be shown all of the classic San Francisco sites such as the Golden Gate Bridge, the Bay Bridge, Angel Island, Alcatraz Island and Coit Tower. You will depart from Pier 43 ½ and will be cruising for approximately one hour. Tour guides will give you a detailed history of San Francisco as you relax and take in the breathtaking views of the city.
Ride on a Cable Car
For only a few dollars, you’ll be able to tour most of San Francisco by land. How? By taking a cable car. The cable cars will take you up and down the city’s sprawling hills and through neighborhoods such as Fisherman’s Wharf, Chinatown and Union Square. You’ll be able to glimpse sights much faster than you would if you were walking, and your legs will thank you at the end of the day.
Stroll through Golden Gate Park
Though often overlooked for more touristy attractions such as Alcatraz and the Golden Gate Bridge, the Golden Gate Park is truly a San Francisco gem that is not to be missed. The park spans almost a half mile in width by a length of three miles and is completely man-made. On a nice day, you can find locals walking, jogging or picnicking in the park. In the summer, there are often free outdoor concerts and movie screenings that take place. Additionally, many locals cut through Golden Gate Park to reduce their walking commute, so you will definitely catch a glimpse at what it would be like to be a member of the San Francisco workforce.
Visit AT&T Park
AT&T Park is the home of the San Francisco Giants, which is San Francisco’s baseball team. San Francisco natives love to watch their Giants play, and if you get a chance, you should catch a game just to witness the infectious energy Giants fans possess. Also, this goes without saying, but if you catch a Giants game, don’t forget to order a hot dog with all toppings, just like the locals would do.
Immerse Yourself in Art
San Francisco is home to the Museum of Modern Art, which is only slightly smaller than the original Museum of Modern Art in New York. The museum hosts hundreds of incredible pieces of work from talented artists such as Marcel Duchamp and Jeff Koons. If you are in town on a Thursday night, you can get half-off price on your admission if you arrive between 6:00 p.m. and 8:45 p.m.
Overall, if you’re in San Francisco, you should be prepared to have a great time. The city truly has some form of entertainment for everyone, and will be sure to show you a good time. Just remember to take lots of pictures and relax. After all, you will be leaving your heart in San Francisco.
